Effective Communication™

Communication may sound like a soft subject, but it can have hard consequences on the bottom line. Customers and employees leave us because they don't feel listened to and valued. We have problems with our bosses and colleagues. We hurt professional and personal relationships because we don’t have the skills to confront, and we don’t know how to deal with others.*

Effective communicators know that in order to increase productivity, morale, and motivation, they must be clear, honest, and consistent. These communicators get others—employees, customers, prospects, colleagues, friends, and family to do what they want them to do through communication—not through manipulation. And, above all, effective communicators know how to listen—they know that they must focus on what they take in before they can produce clear output.

Skills learned in this training:

  • Getting others to listen to you (and listening better yourself)
  • Verbal and nonverbal language that helps you communicate
  • Saying what you mean and getting the results you want
  • Dealing with defensiveness and other difficult behaviors
  • Giving and receiving criticism effectively
  • Controlling your emotions so you won’t regret what you said (or didn’t say)
  • Re-scripting negative messages that produce nonassertive, weak communication
  • Communication to value others: employees, colleagues, and customers
  • Communication as a productivity- and morale-building tool

*Program can be customized to meet challenges of specific jobs/levels, e.g., managers/supervisors or support staff.
