Communication Skills for Support Staff™

This workshop is designed specifically for professionals who work in critical support positions and who are often the first line of communication for students, staff, and the public. In this training you will learn to:

  • Communicate concisely and directly, knowing what your listener (e.g., supervisor) needs to know, at that moment, in that situation, and relay concise information congruent to that goal.
  • Understand and practice the “appointment mentality” whenever possible, so that communication can occur at appropriate times, as needed, with as little interruption to other tasks as possible.
  • Learn and practice direct communication, getting to the point, while maintaining courteous, appropriate communication to management, staff, and others, internal and external to the organization.
  • Send and receive messages that minimize misunderstandings, wasted time, and other consequences of ineffective communication.
  • Use good communication to enhance productivity, yours and others’.
